Pack replacement - It has to be done

Financial constraints are a reality for everyone ( except for fortune 500 companies & media moguls. And oil barons. Perhaps the odd crown prince.. ). In tv world, this becomes an issue when brands are changed or updated, and by extension their respective logos, labels, and the products they appear on.

Rather than undergo a costly reshoot, vfx wizardry is utilised to replace the old pack, with the new one, which can be relatively easy, or very tricky. The camera is seldom locked off and more often than not, the pack is in the subjects hands ( which are always moving) - so that means rotoscoping, tracking, & lighting are required to make the new pack look like it was part of the original process. As long as the replacement is done professionally, viewers would never know that a pack or logo was replaced/updated.

As a professional, with extensive broadcast vfx experience, I have over the years, updated various tvc's with new packs, no matter the level of difficulty. My vfx skills, also extend well beyond pack replacement, to inlcude removal of unwanted objects, such as road signs, car sensors, car dash lights, even sky replacement, needed when shooting conditions haven't been optimal. Below are a few shots from various tvc's showing the new pack, with the original, in a side by side comparison. Brands shown below are Caltrate, White Wings, & Taubmans.
